For the last few years I’ve monitored a constant stream of disclosures by organisations that have suffered attacks and lost millions of records of personal data.
The financial loss from such an event can be crippling.
Target lost $2.5 billion from its stock value and sales dropped by 46% after it was attacked earlier this year.
Top executives have been sacked and the company continues to suffer significantly from reputational loss.
It may never recover.
